Luck of the Irish

With a name like Ella Hennessy, you know we were celebrating an Irish holiday and celebrating we did. I mean why celebrate for one night when you can celebrate all week. It first started on the official St. Patrick's Day with my two Irish loves sporting their green outfits and their sweet faces that say, I am Irish all over them. We had the nieghbors over for a tradtional Irish dinner complete with Cornbeef, potatoes and Guinness. By the way, I am totally in love with this picture. Ella was saying "cheese" for the picture and really trying hard to smile. And if you are part Irish (and part Italian) you learn to drink early on. For now, we will stick with water in the sippy cup but check out her chair of choice!
And of course rocking the green sunglasses for the occasion with one her favorite people Jaine or as she says "Mame."
We also had a St Patty's Day craft and play date at Christy's house. She had cute little games and food planned for them. They were playing eye spy and even though Ella had no idea what she was doing, she wanted to sit with the big kids and circle the items as well.
One of Ella's other favorite friends is Emma. I don't know if it's because her name is so close or she loves that another buddy has strawberry blond hair like hers (although Emma has a lot more than Ella) but Ella talks about Emma nonstop. Whenever we play outside, she will run up to Emma's door and say Emma Emma over and over. These two are just 6 months apart and so cute together, sitting at the "little kids table."
And no playdate is complete without the Barbie Jeep power wheels and Ella loves riding in the power wheels cars. Good thing for us, all of our neighbors have one so she gets lots of rides.
Saturday morning, we went to Uptown for the annual St Pattys Day festival and parade. We have never been before but it is huge and so much fun. The parade was very entertaining for the kids. I think in this picture, Ella is saying "Why are there so many green people and on roller skates??"
But they had lots of fun floats and a bunch of dog animal rescue groups walked as well so of course, she loved watching the doggies walk by dressed up in their green tutus. No lie, huge great danes wearing green tutus. I can't believe I didn't get a picture but there is no way Dakota would wear a tutu for anything.
Parades are even more fun when you watch them with your best buddies and under sun filled 80 degree skies.
After the parade, they had all the streets blocked off and you could get lots of Irish food and of course Guinness. The kids loved watching the fountain, that is until Wesley wanted to climb in it. Here is her whiny, "I want to go in the dirty water" face! Cracks me up (probably because it wasn't my kid whining.)
The weather was so incredible yesterday that we spent nearly the entire day outside. We had lots of sidewalk chalk drawings, baby stroller pushing and what else, more power wheels rides.
She even discovered the tunnel tube and she was obsessed. Crawling back and forth and she didn't want to miss an important phone call so she had her cell phone with her at all times just in case.
It was a busy couple of days and today was cloudy and much cooler so we were happy to stay inside and recover by cuddling on the couch.
I think I have adopted this whole being Irish thing pretty well and I think my little red headed Irish cutie loves the holiday as well. Now onto planning Easter events...need to find a cute Easter basket!
